About
I am interested in the cultural and intellectual production born as a response to Iberian expansion, both in the Mediterranean and in the Americas. I am also interested the culture of Spain's far northern colonial territories -- today's American Southwest.
I am currently working on two book-length projects: the first is a new translation of the Spanish reports on the uprising of the Pueblo Indians in 1680 with my colleague Juan Sempere; the second is a study of the Spanish adaptations of Yehudah Abravanel's Dialogues of Love and their role as vehicles for re-imagining the Spanish Empire.
